HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  November 1, 2021 – An aerospace and defense technology company will occupy a pair of new office buildings.

Corporate Office Properties Trust’s offerings at Redstone Gateway, its 470-acre mixed-use office campus in Huntsville, Ala., will soon expand with the addition of two new buildings at an aggregate development cost of $103 million. The structures, totaling 263,000 square feet, will sprout up as a result of two build-to-suit leases the developer just signed with Northrop Grumman Corp.

Redstone Gateway, located adjacent to the primary access point of the U.S. Army’s approximately 38,000-acre Redstone Arsenal in the Cummings Research Park submarket, occupies land owned by the U.S. Government under a long-term master lease agreement with COPT and joint venture partner Jim Wilson & Associates. Redstone Gateway has been consistently growing since the establishment of the 2010 joint venture and today, the mixed-use campus consists of a series of Class A office buildings, flex/R&D facilities, a data center, a hotel and retail space.

COLUMBUS, MS | October 7, 2021 – In 1972, while working with Colonial Properties, Jim Wilson, Jr. was instrumental in finding a site in Columbus, MS owned by Frank Leigh that would become Leigh Mall. When Mr. Wilson left Colonial Properties in 1975 and formed Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC, the company’s focus was on five developments that had begun during his tenure with Colonial Properties. One of those properties was Leigh Mall. A year before Leigh Mall opened, a time capsule was buried at the site during construction. Yesterday at the city’s Bicentennial celebration the time capsule was opened.

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  August 17, 2021 – Technology services company KBR is making a major move in Huntsville agreeing to lease more than 200,000 square feet of space at Redstone Gateway bringing the business park’s total square footage to 1.8 million.

Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) and its joint-venture partner Jim Wilson & Associates announced Monday development space leases with KBR in two buildings to be occupied in early 2023. One building is a 172,500 square-foot office building and the second is a 45,000 square foot R&D facility. KBR will occupy 90 percent of the office building and half of the R&D building. COPT said it expects to invest $65 million in the two buildings.
