New Elementary School Approved for New Park
MONTGOMERY, AL | DEC 18, 2007–The Montgomery County Board of Education has approved the construction of a new elementary school within the New Park residential community. The James W. Wilson, Jr. Elementary School will be built on land donated by the Wilson family, developers of New Park. Approximately 15 acres between New Park Boulevard and Wilson Park Drive have been designated as land for the school site which is scheduled to open in August 2009. The school will be named in memory of the founder of Jim Wilson & Associates, the late Jim Wilson, Jr. New Park is a 1,400 acre development located off Ray Thorington Road. The residential community will be built in multi phases. The first phase will contain 184 single family home sites. Lots will be available for purchase in late spring 2008 and it is anticipated that the first house will be ready for occupancy by late summer of that year.
