Redstone Gateway receives $1 million donation

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  JANUARY 26, 2016 – The Poarch Band of Creek Indians today donated $1 million toward Gate 9 at Redstone Gateway.

The donation was announced this afternoon at the Chamber of Commerce in downtown Huntsville where Federal Building Authority officials and other leaders gathered for a press conference.

A media advisory said Redstone Arsenal initiated a plan to develop a business park on the northern edge of the installation 10 years ago.

Today, that vision is coming to life in brick, mortar and asphalt,” the Chamber said in a statement. “Today’s announcement will announce another significant step to this development.”

Redstone Gateway is a 468-acre mixed-use complex adjacent to Interstate 565 at Gate 9 in Huntsville. The park, which will contain 4.6 million square feet of space, is being built in three phases over a 15-20 year period by Corporate Office Properties Trust and Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC, in partnership with the U.S. Army and Redstone Arsenal.

A TownePlace Suites by Marriott is expected to open early this year at Redstone Gateway. The 120-unit, four-story hotel, developed and operated by Yedla Management Company, sits on the south side of the six-acre lake with access from Market Street.

The $1 million will help with infrastructure problems and speed up the start of the Gate 9 project, officials said today.
