March 12, 2023 – James Winfrey Wilson III, an Alabama business titan, philanthropist, civic leader, beloved husband, adored father, grandfather and friend, died in his home after a brief illness on March 11 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was 59.

Jim was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Jim Wilson & Associates (JWA), a Montgomery-based real estate and investment firm with a far-reaching presence across the United States. Jim, along with his brother, Will, successfully expanded JWA and built upon the legacy of the firm’s founder and their father, Jim Wilson Jr.

Corporate Office Properties Trust announced Wednesday it has a full-building lease for the Huntsville defense contractor at 5300 Redstone Gateway. The building is a 46,000 square-foot, build-to-suit development that will serve as Davidson’s global headquarters.

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  March 1, 2023 – A recently formed defense and government contractor in Huntsville is relocating to the front door of Redstone Arsenal.

Axient is leasing about 30,000 square feet at Redstone Gateway, developer Corporate Office Properties Trust announced Wednesday. Axient formed in 2021 following the mergers of Huntsville companies QuantiTech and Dynamic Concepts as well as Millennium Engineering and Integration of Virginia and Systems Engineering Group of Maryland.

MONTGOMERY, AL | February 3, 2023 – Montgomery County, in central Alabama, is home to the state Capitol. It is part of the state’s River Region and is the birthplace of the Civil Rights movement. It accommodates river traffic on the Alabama and Tallapoosa rivers and motor traffic along Interstates 65 and 85.

The county is anticipating big new projects in business, technology and just plain fun.

On the business front, the county saw three project kickoffs with a total value estimated at $1.1 billion.

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  December 6, 2022 – A new hotel is coming to Redstone Gateway, the business park just outside the gates of Redstone Arsenal.

Redstone Gateway and its developer, Corporate Office Properties Trust, announced Tuesday a 150-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott is under construction and planned to be completed by summer of 2023. It will join another Marriott hotel, the 120-room Towne Place Suites, at the office park.

“The demand for a second hotel became a priority as soon as the Towne Suites was built. We are pleased to be associated with Doradus Partners, a local company that is developing the Fairfield Inn and Suites project,” James Lomax, COPT’s Huntsville VP of Asset Management & Leasing, said in the announcement.

MONTGOMERY, AL | October 18, 2022 – Governor Kay Ivey announced today that Manna Capital Partners plans to invest nearly $600 million to construct an advanced beverage production and distribution complex in Montgomery.

Manna Capital Partners, a minority-owned business enterprise and investment firm, said its Montgomery “beverage park” will create 280 full-time jobs and will be owned and operated by its affiliate Manna Beverages & Ventures (MB&V).

COLLIERVILLE, TN  |  October 11, 2022 – Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC announces the signing of four new leases totaling over 30,000 square feet at Carriage Crossing MarketPlace on East Shirley Drive in Collierville, Tennessee.  Joining the current tenants will be Something Special, 901 Furniture, Little Blessings, and 901 Mattress. Little Blessings, a daycare facility, opened at the beginning of October. Something Special, a furniture outlet, is scheduled to open in November. 901 Furniture and 901 Mattress are slated to open January 2023. HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  September 14, 2022 – The Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) has announced the construction of a new 5-story, 131,000 square foot office building at Huntsville’s Redstone Gateway.

COPT, a privately traded real estate company, partnered with the Montgomery-based Jim Wilson & Associates (JWA) to undertake the further development of the area to meet the needs of contractors working for the Federal Government. The new building, which will be located at 8100 Rideout Road, will be next to the two-building campus of defense titan Northrop Grumman.
