JWA Donates $20,000 to Park Crossing High School

MONTGOMERY, AL | MAY 5, 2016 – Jim Wilson and Associates presented a fundraising challenge to Park Crossing High School – agreeing to match funds raised during the school year up to $20,000. The school accepted the challenge and they raised more than $45,000. Representatives from the Wilson company will present a check to the school on Friday, May 6, 2016, during Senior Honor Day at the school.

“We are thrilled,” said Park Crossing Principal Tracy Hubbert. “Even though we are a new school, we have so many things that need attention. This donation will go a long way to help us provide more services to our students. We are so very grateful to the Wilsons.”

H&M opening in the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, AL

HOOVER, AL | MARCH 18, 2016 – H&M is opening its first store in the Birmingham area in Hoover’s Riverchase Galleria mall.

The Stockholm, Sweden-based clothing retailer has 3,400 stores in 55 countries, employing more than 116,000 people. The stores carry clothing and accessories for women, men, teenagers and children. The new store will be 25,000 square feet and is set to open in the fall. the store will hire about 30 workers, and job opportunities will be posted here.

The store will open on the first floor near the Macy’s. Champs, Justice and Knowstyle will have to move within the mall to make room for H&M.

HOOVER, AL  |  MARCH 9, 2016 -A young newspaper reporter peppered James W. Wilson Jr. with questions as he sat at his desk in an office at the still-under-construction Riverchase Galleria in Hoover.

Distracted, Wilson turned around to a TV set on a shelf behind him.  “Hold on,” he said.  “I think something just happened.”  The space shuttle Challenger had exploded, killing all seven crew members.  That was Jan. 28, 1986.

A few weeks later, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1986, the $300 million mega-mall billed as the largest shopping center in the Southeast opened.  Wilson predicted shopping shock waves would reverberate throughout the state and to Atlanta.  “I think it will have more effect on Lennox Square,” Wilson said.
